"Networks are Colluding" to Declare Clinton the Overall Winner Before California Polls Close

>

by Gaius Publius

The writer of the quoted part of the headline above is Shaun King. Here's the quote in full and in context.
When a grown man tells you he is about to start trouble, believe him.

What followed, if Matthews is to be taken at his word, is clear evidence that television networks are colluding together to call the primary for Hillary Clinton before she reaches the delegates needed to claim victory. By doing so, they will absolutely suppress the vote in the final states that will be cast ballots in the Democratic primary. Even by mentioning it now, that the networks have already set the date and time they are calling the race for Hillary, what Matthews has done runs the very real risk of suppressing voter turnout. It's disgusting.
That date and time is 8:00 pm Eastern time, 5:00 pm Pacific time, on June 7, the night of the California primary. (Also the night of five other primaries or caucuses and the last-but-one night of Democratic Party voting.)

Here's the Matthews quote from the video above:
MATTHEWS: This what I call "trouble," [what] I'm about to start [saying or asking] here.

I'm told by the experts on numbers around here on NBC and elsewhere that come June 7, the day of the California primary — which your candidate [pointing to Jeff Weaver], I totally understand, wants to get to and maybe has a chance to knock off Hillary at that event, a big last hurrah — that at 8:00 that night Eastern time, that the networks will be prepared, including this one, to announce that Hillary Clinton has gotten over the top, that she will have won the nomination in numbers. It's done.

What will that do to turnout, if that's 5:00 Pacific time with three more hours to vote in California? Who will be least likely to vote, Sanders people from five to eight [o'clock] or Hillary. I've heard both theories.
Weaver answers the question in the only way that makes sense — that the announcement will be wrong, because the superdelegates don't vote until the convention. But that's not the point here. Forget Matthew's foolish question ("What will that do to turnout?") and read the intro to it.

If Matthews is right, so is my headline, and so is Shaun King. The establishment, corporate-owned "networks are colluding" to declare Hillary Clinton the overall Democratic winner before California polls close. And they know it will affect turnout; they just aren't sure whose.

An Establishment-Rigged System

After explaining in full what Weaver said above in short, King closes with this:
What the Democratic Party, and apparently the television networks, do not want people to know is that superdelegates, and not the American voters, are going to choose who this nominee is. ...

This - all of this - is why supporters of Bernie Sanders so often say the system is rigged. It clearly looks that way.
It's not just the Democratic Party that is tilting the table in Clinton's direction, though. Notice, if Matthews is right, what the establishment networks are planning to do. Even Politico gives the game away (my emphasis):
Clinton could lose California, where the polls close three hours later, after she has already won the nomination [with the delegates won in New Jersey].
Whatever possessed Matthews to admit to all this? And will they carry through, the networks? Maybe not, after this. But still, maybe so. Either way, you have been warned. The networks are talking about, once again, making news, not just breaking it. What they will be breaking instead is their reputations as news organizations.

With every Sanders Democrat and independent watching ... very very closely.

It is disgusting and should be considered election fraud.

I will not be sitting on a hot stove waiting for the Obumma DoJ warning to the self-avowed perps.

Clinton does better in early voting, Sanders does better on Election Day (per one of GP's previous posts IIRC), hence anything that discourages voting on the actual election day probably swings to Clinton's advantage.

American bourgeois "democracy" is more of a fraud now than it ever has been (and its always been a fraud) . The people have never actually elected a president,it has always been the electoral College that performs that office. The purpose of the electoral college was always to protect the ruling class from the will of the majority, should that will become for bourgeois, objectionable. The democratic party created "super-delegates" as an extra layer of assurance that their pre selected oligarch will prevail. Americas tenuous claim to being a democracy always involved more than merely the ritual of the electoral circus. A, more or less independent, 4th estate -the press- was always a critical component. Since the near total monopolization of information("news") media, the process has become all but a complete sham. .Add in the fact that money is (now) treated legally as speech, and that the process of selecting the candidates by choosing whoever has the most "credibility" with the oligarch-monopoly owned press, and by who can collect the most "speech" from corporate billionaires and their front organizations, is not in any way "democratic", and you should be able to see that these bourgeois, ruling class, electoral charades are a mockery of democracy - not democracy itself and not a process the people should endorse any longer.

I couldn't have said it better myself! Bravo!

While Sanders seems to be closing the polling gap in Cal, there's no 'movement" by him in New Jersey, so worries about early calls, let alone fraud behind it, are bogeymen.

Bravo to Solerso for a fine comment. In fact, closed primaries and caucuses are lower layers of rigging for the chosen puppet in the D sect of the money party. The corrupt superdelegates is the next layer. The electoral college is the money's final hedge against an undesirable outcome -- paired with the antidemocratic rigging of having only the binary system instead of "allowing" other parties.

The vast corporate media are acting in concert with all of these to assist the money in buying the corrupt whore they want (or suppressing the one they don't want).

Here I must recognize that MOST of this has been embedded in our societal memes since 1980 with pretty much the enthusiastic affirmation by the electorate. Media was corrupted by the repudiation of the fairness and equal time rules during Reagan. Corporate concentration of media has been happening ever since then such that now only a handful of megacorps control the "information" that americans consume.

Also unmentioned in all this is the culpability of a largely imbecilic, lazy, suggestible and servile electorate. **NEITHER** $hillbillary nor herr drumpf are worthy of receiving votes in any sane society, yet they both are widely supported even though people like Kasich (for the evangelical conservatives) and Bernie would be far more supportable based on every measure of candidacies.

At so many junctures in the past 36 years, voters had opportunities to demand things... but have never done so. Only in this cycle, with the support Bernie has gotten, have just some voters seemed to awaken.

As I've said often (since Reagan won in '80), when an electorate is this goddamn stupid... any democratically elected government cannot be very good.

As of Tue. 6-7 @ 06:00 pacific, all networks are calling $hillbillary the "presumptive"... and polls aren't even open yet in most time zones.

Kudos to the money. Goebbels would be proud. Never let the voters actually, you know, have a say. Suppress. Strip and flip. They want $hillbillary and now they've bought her. And they SAY SO.

Now, with a choice between two malignant narcissists; one an emotional 7-year-old and the other a corrupt, warmongering emotional 9-year-old; will the turnout be more than a third? Will we get a president selected by 51% of 33% (16.6%) of voters? And will we all accept that "MANDATE"... of the 16.6%?

Of course we will. We're americans. We're stupid.

Yeah, they called it for $hillbillary before the cali polls OPENED!

The media has ADHD. It can't even wait for an APPEARANCE of legitimacy before serving their ultimate purpose -- suppressing votes.

And Bernie, fully aware of the suppression, dutifully marches off to the house of corruption in DC to meet with the corrupted-in-chief, obamanation, to discuss when he will betray his movement and endorse the worst D candidate in history... because the R candidate is THEIR worst in history.

Unless Bernie is sandbagging everyone and intends to stand up at the convention and announce he and Jill Stein are forming a REAL left coalition... I will have lost all respect I have for him. Way to take a good thing and summarily flush it.

SAME goes for Elizabeth Warren. She has now endorsed that distaff POS which is totally anathema to all she claims to stand for. And there's a lot of talk of Warren being $hillbillary's veep nom.

Well, aside from Warren betraying everything she stood for her entire life, that nom COULD keep the house from impeaching $hillbillary the moment $he finishes her first presidential lie (her oath of office).
I think the Rs and the money fear Warren as much as they fear Bernie.

After these betrayals... well, I don't think the money has anything to worry about.

fuck them all.
